I have 30 years of business experience. I know what it takes to build and run successful businesses and I understand the challenges that can be encountered in a tourist area.
In Toronto I worked in the music and film industry. I have effectively used this entertainment production experience working with you to:
help businesses create marketing events that aid in raising their business profiles
assist organizations and volunteer groups to develop community-based initiatives and host fundraising events
work with our fellow community members to organize and build events, such as the Bobcaygeon Tragically Hip outdoor street viewing party and the Omemee Neil Young screening, that not only draw visitors to our area but also provide entertainment and a sense of community for our residents.
While Mike worked on his Doctorate in Minneapolis, I retrained and ran the Wellness Clinic. I am adaptable, handle change well, and understand the need to adjust your sails to the conditions.
I am an employer with over 25 staff. Although I am a hands-on business owner, I have a full-time restaurant manager to handle the day-to-day work at Kawartha Coffee Company, allowing me to continue to focus my attention, long hours, and my full efforts as your municipal councillor.
I take my role as your representative very seriously. It is more than just a job and certainly not a hobby to me. I have a proven track record and have worked hard to ensure that I have a full understanding of the workings of the City of Kawartha Lakes and have diligently worked to build relationships within government, business and our community. I am a permanent resident, a cottager, a business owner and an employer, actively engaged in our community while raising a family here. I understand the issues that we all face.
As your representative, I will continue to ensure that our voices are heard and that we continue to work together building a strong, financially sound and exciting future for generations to come.
